Why We Collect It, and On What Basis

Under UK and EU data protection law we need a lawful basis for processing your data. Ours are:

• Consent. For analytics cookies, advertising cookies, and newsletter sign-ups. You give it through our cookie banner or by subscribing, and you can withdraw it at any time.
• Legitimate interests. For basic site security, spam prevention, and keeping the site working.
• Legal obligation. Where we are required to retain or disclose information by law.

We use the data to run the site, answer your messages, understand which articles are useful, show advertising, and stop abuse.

Cookies and Consent

We use Google Analytics to understand how people use the site: which pages get read, how visitors arrive, what is working and what is not. It collects IP address, device information, and browsing behaviour on this site. Analytics cookies are only set if you consent.

MailerLite

Our newsletter is run through MailerLite. If you subscribe, your email address is stored and processed by MailerLite on our behalf. They act as our data processor. You can unsubscribe from any email we send, at any time, and we will not email you again.

WPForms

Our contact form uses WPForms. Messages you send through it, including your name and email address, are stored so we can reply to you.

Advertising partners

We display advertising to fund the site. Advertising partners may set cookies to measure performance and, where you have consented, to show you personalised ads based on your browsing.

Where we use Google AdSense, Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can manage this through Google’s Ads Settings and opt out of personalised advertising there.

If Tressora later joins Journey by Mediavine or another Mediavine service, we will update this policy to include their privacy notice as their publisher terms require.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Hostinger. Server logs, which may include IP addresses, are processed as part of normal hosting operations.

Affiliate networks

Some articles contain affiliate links. If you click one, the retailer may set a cookie to track that the referral came from us. Details are in our Affiliate Disclosure.

International Transfers

Some of the services above are based in the United States or transfer data there. Where data is transferred outside the UK or EEA, those providers rely on approved safeguards such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses.

How Long We Keep It

• Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe, or until the list is no longer used
• Contact form messages: as long as needed to deal with your enquiry, then deleted
• Analytics data: according to Google Analytics retention settings, currently limited to a rolling period rather than kept indefinitely

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Ask what personal data we hold about you
• Have inaccurate data corrected
• Have your data deleted
• Restrict or object to how we process it
• Receive a copy of your data in a portable format
• Withdraw consent at any time, including for cookies and marketing emails

To exercise any of these, contact us. We will respond within the time the law allows, normally one month.

If you are in the UK or EU and you think we have handled your data badly, you may complain to your national data protection authority. We would prefer you told us first so we can put it right.

California Residents

If you live in California, the CCPA and CPRA give you rights to know what personal information we collect, to request its deletion, to correct it, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.

We do not sell your personal information for money. However, the use of advertising cookies for personalised, cross-context behavioural advertising may count as “sharing” under California law. You can opt out through our cookie settings, or by using the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” control on the site.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

Children

Tressora is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us their data, tell us and we will delete it.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the data we hold. We will also be honest with you: no website is perfectly secure, and we cannot promise that a determined attacker could never get through. If a breach affected your data, we would tell you and the relevant authority as the law requires.

Changes to This Policy

We will update this page when our practices change, for example if we add a new advertising partner or analytics tool. The revision date at the top will tell you when it last changed.
